Ariana Grande won three awards in addition to her main award — favorite pop/rock female artist — her third consecutive win in the category.
The rapper Camila Cabello won favorite pop/rock album for her debut album, “Camila.”
J Balvin, who collaborated with Daddy Yankee on “Despacito,” won favorite tropical song for “Mi Gente.”
Drake, who won favorite rap/hip-hop artist, dedicated his award to gun violence victims.
Cardi B won favorite hip-hop/rap artist and best new artist.
Singer Brandi Carlile won favorite country artist.
Christina Aguilera won favorite pop/rock female artist, and Shawn Mendes won favorite pop/rock album.
But before the show, performers performed songs by Beyonce, the world’s most popular musician, and Mariah Carey, the world’s most popular diva.
Drake won two awards for his hit “God’s Plan.” Justin Bieber won two awards for his song “No Brainer,” while the Weeknd, Rihanna and Dan + Shay each won one award for a collaboration.
Other big winners included Cardi B and Mariah Carey, who both received four awards. And Shawn Mendes won three awards.
