NFL fans are often hearing the “highlights of the day” from the highlights reel. So when they got this one, football fans felt as if they were getting to enjoy their favorite sport live. Rookie tailback Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts set a franchise record for touchdown runs, passing Peyton Manning’s 5-season-old record of 11. He did it on his team’s first offensive play.

After that, the Fox broadcast crew seemed willing to pick up on the excitement that engulfed the crowd at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Interesting footnote to the Taylor story is that he missed the first two games of the season because of a team suspension (he then aggravated his injury and missed the third).

Here’s a look at his highlight-reel debut.

The whole game is absolutely worth watching. It’s the kind of thing that can make NFL Week 3 classics. If fans can turn their attention away from Eli Manning at the end of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the Cleveland Browns to the craziness involving Taylor and the Colts, I can’t see why they can’t return to what will be a particularly fun viewing experience.
