Scientists hold global summit on climate change

A special weather summit was held Thursday to discuss what to do about our evolving climate. Hundreds of leading scientists are holding the event, which was first held in Miami in 2014.

Former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator and Texas governor, Rick Perry, attended the summit and spoke on the implications of climate change. Perry said: “The science is overwhelming … we’re seeing in Texas and across the United States a changing climate in the form of drought, floods, and wildfires.” He said that everyone needs to move to the “environmental workplace,” stressing the importance of shutting off the carbon output in addition to being conscious of CO2.

The summer of 2017 was the most catastrophic season for hurricanes on record. It’s currently gearing up for its next season, which starts in June and lasts through November. The latest prediction is that there will be between 14 and 19 named storms, with up to six being Category 3 or higher. Hurricane season is every four years, but recent warming of the planet could lengthen it.
